2025 Partner Application Window is Now Closed

The 2025 CDBG Community Partner Funding Application is open at this link. Completed applications are due at 3 PM on May 23. Incomplete applications or applications received after that time will not be considered. Click here to view the application.

Community Development Block Grant

The Township of Abington is an entitlement community under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. An entitlement community is defined as a municipality (city or metropolitan area) with a population of 50,000 persons or more, which receives an annual allocation of CDBG funds directly from HUD under the CDBG Entitlement Program. The CDBG program is a federally funded program, authorized under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.

Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program

The Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program (OORP) was created by the Township to provide funds to assist income eligible owner-occupied single-family homes in correcting existing substandard health, safety, and/or building code conditions in conformity with the standards of the Township’s Code of Standards, as well as Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code and the Department of Housing and Urban Development Residential Rehabilitation Inspection Guide.

Compliance Monitoring

The Township of Abington is routinely monitored for the various federal programs that it administers. Additionally, the Township is required to submit annual reports to HUD on the various activities undertaken each year. These reports, the Consolidated Annual Performance Report (CAPER), can be found below in the “Past” Section. The most recent CAPER submitted in December 2024 can be found here.
