The Township of Abington is accepting applications for a Director of Parks and Recreation. This is a full time position with an excellent salary and benefit package depending upon the successful applicant having the requisite qualifications and experience. This position will be responsible to the Township Manager for effectively managing the Parks and Recreation department. Qualified applicants must be a recreation and parks practitioner, preferably holding CPRP (Certified Recreation and Park Professional) certification with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the administration (5-7 years is preferred), planning, and development of facilities/areas, programming, finance, personnel, and maintenance of a comprehensive park and recreation system or related entity. The Director of Parks and Recreation is directly responsible for managing the work of outside consultants as assigned; manage all parks and recreation functions and activities, complaints with third party contractors and assigned department personnel; assuring compliance with all laws, including the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Township ordinances, policies, processes, guidance documents, procedures and relevant contracts.
